M.Eng. Admissions

Application deadlines and admissions requirements vary by field. Provided below are general guidelines. Please follow the links for more information.

Deadlines:

Fall Admission

For students who wish to be considered for College of Engineering financial aid and special awards, including the M.Eng./MBA Knight Fellowship, the preferred deadlines are:

Operations Research and Information Engineering

Geological Sciences

January 2
Materials Science and Engineering

January 5
Civil and Environmental Engineering, Engineering Management, Engineering Physics

January 15
Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering

February 1
Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering

After February 1, in most fields, applications are reviewed for admission on a rolling basis. Early application is encouraged. 

Rolling Admissions:

In most fields, applications are reviewed for admission on a rolling basis. Financial aid is awarded based on availability of funds. Fields encourage early application. For preferred deadlines, check with the field you are applying to. CEE also bases funding on merit. 

Spring Admission

September 15
Operations Research and Information Engineering (check with the field before applying)

Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science

October 15
Aerospace Engineering, Biological and Environmental Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Engineering Management, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering

Requirements for all fields:

  • Online application
  • Statement of purpose
  • Transcripts
  • Letters of recommendation (2)
  • Application fee
  • GRE scores
  • TOEFL scores for applicants whose native language is not English
Field-specific Requirements:
  • Biological and Environmental Engineering: resume
  • Biomedical Engineering: preferably (3) letters of recommendation
  • Operations Research and Information Engineering: resume and list of prerequisites
