James M. and Marsha D. McCormick

James M. McCormick is president and founder of First Manhattan Consulting Group. Since 1980 the firm has conducted more than 2,000 assignments for clients that include all of the top 10 U.S. commercial banks; more than 60 regional banks; several insurance companies; brokerage and investment banking firms; and technology, telecommunications, and media companies.

During his more than 30 years of consulting, McCormick has built expertise in disciplines ranging from strategy to acquisitions to marketing to management information systems. He also serves on the boards of several companies.

McCormick has given testimony to the U.S. Senate Banking Committee and has appeared more than 200 times as a speaker before various financial services industry groups. He has appeared on CNN, CNBC, and other television news venues and is widely quoted in national publications as an expert in his field.

Prior to founding First Manhattan Consulting, McCormick worked at McKinsey and Bell Labs. He earned his Cornell engineering degree in 1969, majoring in operations research and industrial engineering.

James and Marsha McCormick's son, JJ' 05, M.Eng. 06 CE, is also a graduate of the College of Engineering.
