Thank you for your interest in the Engineering Peer Advising Program.

Please complete the application below and be sure to note further clarification is listed below each question. Short answer responses should not exceed 100 words.

Students who are tentatively planning to study abroad or do co-op next fall may apply. However, it may be factored into the selection process.

By completing this application, you are certifying these answers to be true and factual. If you are selected, any misrepresentations on this application may be grounds for subsequent dismissal from Peer Advising.

Are you involved in the co-op search process for a Fall co-op?
Please explain why you want to be a Peer Advisor. What do you hope to accomplish in this role? If you are a returning Peer Advisor, what did you learn last year while in the role and what will you do differently this year?

What needs do first year students have? Please provide an example of a program or event that you would host (or have hosted) outside of class to help the students in your class with one of these needs.

If a first year student told you that he/she was performing poorly in a core engineering course, how would you respond? What suggestions or courses of action would you recommend?

Please write a 3-4 sentence statement (from a third-person perspective) describing your interests in engineering, your Cornell activities, future plans and/or an academic/engineering-related tip for freshmen. If you are selected, this will be published on our website.

Provide a brief sample email that you would write to welcome your first year students to Cornell and engineering.

It is important that you are back on campus by Saturday, August 24, 2013 for training and available on Monday, August 26, 2013 for your first 1050 class meeting. These meetings occur before classes officially begin. By checking this box, you indicate that you understand these dates and will plan your travel around them.
If you are unable to return by the dates above, please explain. Understand that this may preclude you from being a Peer Advisor.

By checking this box, you indicate that, if selected as a new PA, you must complete spring training and have reviewed the training dates. If you are a returning PA, you understand that you will not attend spring training.
