RISE Internships

RISE gives undergraduate students at North American colleges and universities the opportunity to spend a summer working with German doctoral students on cutting-edge research.

Host Institution:

RISE summer placements take place with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany.

Admissions:

Students must be currently enrolled at a U.S. or Canadian university as full-time students in an engineering or science field; have completed 2 years of the degree program; and be registered as undergraduate student.

Program Dates:

Programs will run a period of 8 weeks to 3 months between the middle of May and August.

Research Projects:

Doctoral students help integrate the undergraduate directly into the lab work and serve as personal and professional mentors.

Language:

German language skills are not required for most positions.

Housing:

The host institution will help students find reasonably-priced housing for the duration of the internship, which can be anything from a room in a student dormitory to a shared apartment.

Program Cost:

Students are responsible for their travel costs, housing, and food. DAAD will provide a monthly scholarship of Euro 650 for a period of 8 weeks to 3 months (pro-rated depending on length of stay).  The scholarship will not cover international travel costs.
