James Lyons recently joined Novus Energy Partners as its CTO after a 30 year career with the General Electric Company. For the last 10 years, Lyons was Chief Engineer for Electrical and Electronic System at GE R&D serving as technology leader for a 250-member global team. He’s been a principal advocate of renewable energy within GE and corporate champion behind its 2002 entry into the wind energy business – GE’s most successful startup with estimated 2008 revenues of $6B. Lyons most recently led new GE business/technology initiatives on waste gasification and plug-in hybrid vehicles. He has served on the board of directors of Powerex and the Electric Drive Trade Association. He was co-chair of the 2006 American Wind Energy Conference and initiator of the AWEA/DOE roadmap to generate 20% of US electricity from wind. Lyons has a BSEE degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MSEE from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a Ph.D. from Cornell University.
