Women In Engineering Program

We know that the opportunity to visit campus is an important factor in identifying whether Cornell would be a great fit for you and everything you are looking for in your college experience. Therefore, we invite you to join us for the Women in Engineering Program (Fall WIE).

This overnight hosting program will take place from September 27 - 29, 2012 and will provide you with an insider's view into life as a Cornell Engineer. During Fall WIE you will have the opportunity to:

stay in a residence hall with a current student;
learn details about the admission process;
participate in an interactive lab demonstration; and
interact with faculty, staff, and students.

Notes about the program:

This program is for high school senior women (graduating in Spring 2013 only).
There is no cost for the program except for your own travel to campus. However, you can apply for a travel grant to cover some or all of your travel expenses. Be sure to fill out the Travel Assistance Application in addition to the Fall WIE Application.
Because we require one year each of Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics for our freshman admissions, we are also requiring these for our hosting program. Note that these are requirements for you to fulfill before high school graduation, so taking them in Senior year still fulfills the requirement.

APPLY FOR FALL WIE

This is a space-limited program. Therefore, we encourage you to apply online as soon as possible and submit your high school transcript no later than Wednesday, August 1, 2012.

We understand that you are on summer break, so the submission of your Transcript may be delayed. However, to ensure your application receives full consideration, we need all application materials to be submitted (online or via fax) by August 1, 2012. If you are experiencing substantial difficulty with your application materials, contact Engineering Admissions.

To apply, complete the online application and submit the following supporting documents by Wednesday, August 1, 2012:

1) FALL WIE Online Application includes Essay (required)

2) High School Transcript (required)

An unofficial Transcript is acceptable
In lieu of a Transcript, you may also submit your Report Cards from grades 9, 10, and 11
Be sure your full name is typed or printed clearly on every document

3) Travel Award Application (optional)

This is a separate application from the program application
Please complete the optional Travel Assistance Application if you would like to be considered for a need-based travel award to support your cost of attendance in this program
Travel awards are made possible by funding from the National Science Foundation, the General Motors Foundation, the Air Products Foundation, as well as gifts from Cornell Alumni.

NOTIFICATION

Fully completed applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis throughout May/June/July/August
Decision notification will also be on a rolling basis throughout May/June/July/August
A portion of our applicants may not be notified until Monday, August 6th when all final decisions will be released via e-mail
All selection decisions will include important details for the program, including how to make travel arrangements
