Through intentional programming and training, DPE assists the college in understanding, appreciating, and celebrating Cornell's rich cultural diversity. We plan and coordinate programs that include academic, leadership and professional development, guest speakers, networking, and social events. We welcome you to explore our program offerings for undergraduate students. You're sure to find something that interests you. CU LSAMP Scholars Program prepares students for graduate studies through participation in workshops, Upstate LSAMP wide events as well as providing access to research internship and fellowship opportunities. Participants can be eligible for graduate application and GRE fee waivers. CU LSAMP Research Summer Program CU LSAMP-R is a paid summer research program that provides students with the opportunity to work with distinguished Cornell faculty and research mentors on an engineering-related project. CU EMPower stands for Cornell University Engineering Mentoring Partnerships and is a peer mentor program sponsored by Diversity Programs in Engineering. The primary goal of CU EMPower is to support the personal and academic development and achievement of new students in the College of Engineering, especially women and underrepresented minority students. SAFE Sessions Strategic Actions For Excellence: SAFE sessions touch on an array of topics pertinent for a particular class year. Refreshments are always provided! Company Information Sessions Information sessions coordinated through DPE are opportunities for corporate representatives and non-profit organizations to network with undergraduate and graduate engineering students. Content presented in these sessions may include summer internship and full-time employment opportunities as well as professional development topics. Refreshments area always served. First Fridays Occurring on the first Friday of every month during the academic year, First Friday Dinner is an evening professional development opportunity where corporate representatives, faculty, and university administrators may network with undergraduate and graduate students on an informal basis. First Friday Dinners not only underwritten by corporate sponsors, DPE subsidizes the cost of dinner for students who do not have a university meal plan. Social & Coffee Hours Held on a weekly basis, Social & Coffee Hours are a social, networking, education opportunity for undergraduate and graduate engineering students. DPE frequently invites corporate representatives, non-profit organizations, engineering faculty, administrative staff, and university professionals to speak informally with students about resources and services. On several occasions we also invite Cornell Engineering alum for "Lunch & Learn" sessions where students can hear about career and academic opportunities beyond Cornell. A continental breakfast is offered on Fridays when DPE hosts late morning Coffee Hours. Lunch meals are provided on those Fridays designated for mid-day Social Hours. |
