Occurring on the first Friday of every month during the academic year, First Friday Dinner is an evening professional development opportunity where corporate representatives, faculty, and university administrators may network with undergraduate and graduate students on an informal basis.
Presentation topics for First Friday dinners include internship, employment, and research opportunities; strategies for academic, professional, and personal success; preparation for graduate school as well as fellowship offerings.
First Friday Dinners typically take place in a facility adjoining one of the university’s dining halls. For First Friday Dinners not underwritten by corporate sponsors, DPE subsidizes the cost of dinner for students who do not have a university meal plan. Concluding the dinner are often exciting raffles as well as student or DPE led activities.
