Attending Cornell University during the summer is a wonderful opportunity! Students get to know their classmates, become familiar with campus, meet the faculty, and pursue their interests long before the start of the academic year. Students also get a jump-start on their academics by taking two classes during the summer session. Essentially, the Pre-freshman Summer Program is a great way to learn about the College of Engineering and build a solid social and academic foundation before the fall semester kicks off.
June 21 to August 6, 2008
Students generally enroll in regular summer-session courses, enrichment courses in writing, chemistry, or mathematics, or a college-achievement seminar. The actual course schedule for each student is determined by the College of Engineering.
The program includes field trips, guest lectures, and a wide range of social and cultural activities (before the first week is over, you’ll know exactly where to find the best ice cream on campus!). Participation is restricted to students selected by the college or special-programs offices and is free of charge to those selected. Students selected to attend will be notified by mid-April. Tuition, fees, and room and board charges are fully covered by the program.
