Scholar Programs

Engineering Summer Scholars Program| Pre-Freshmen Summer Program (PSP) – a six-week summer residential program that allows selected first year students to learn about the College of Engineering and build a solid academic and social foundation prior to the fall semester.

  • Establishing Community & Professional Identity,
  • Proactive Advising, Tutoring, & Academic Development,
  • Strategic Actions for Excellence Workshops, and
  • Engaging with faculty and student service professionals.

Robert L. Ryan Scholars Program – a strategically structured scholars program that provides Ryan Scholars with every opportunity to succeed as engineering undergraduate students and beyond. The program is grounded in developing a supportive community of scholars that focuses on the success of the individual as well as the success of the collective group. The core components of the program include the following: 

  • Engineering Summer Scholars Program (ESSP) | Pre-Freshmen Summer Program (PSP),
  • Established Community & Professional Identity,
  • Proactive Advising & Mentoring,
  • Professional and Academic Development,
  • Scholar Awards, and
  • Tutoring

CU Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Scholars– an academic development program focused on preparing Cornell undergraduate and Master of Engineering students for research experiences and advanced graduate studies. LSAMP Scholar are provided Scholar Awards.

CU LSAMP Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Summer Scholars – a summer research program that provides URM undergraduate students with the opportunity to work with distinguished Cornell faculty and research mentors on an engineering-related project.

Academic Support

Cornell University Engineering Success (CUES) Program – an intervention to increase the retention and graduation rates of underrepresented minority (URM) and first generation college (FGC) students to levels equal to the overall engineering student body.

Leadership Development

DPE Student Leaders Council – a council of senior leadership representing the student organizations affiliated with DPE. DPE serves as advisors and/or mentors to the following outstanding engineering student organizations:
