Administration & Contact Information The School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering has two complementary missions. The first mission is to prepare women and men for life-long achievement through education in the principles of chemical engineering; to encourage development of communication, teamwork and leadership skills; and to provide guidance on the application of these principles and skills to societal needs. The second part of the mission is integral to the first: to advance, through research and scholarship, an understanding of the fundamentals of chemical engineering and apply those principles to the creation of new devices or strategies for the solution of societal problems. Our faculty and staff are committed to fulfilling this mission for students at all degree levels, undergraduate and graduate. Some of the most important textbooks in chemical engineering have been authored by our faculty and have received many teaching awards. The faculty is engaged in research in a wide variety of issues important in chemical and biomolecular engineering. Numerous awards have recognized this research. Special multi-faculty efforts exist in drug delivery, metabolism and production; in proteomics; in complex fluids and polymer processing; and in microreactors and microfluidics. These research efforts involve combinations of experiments, computational techniques and advanced mathematics.
