The Cornell University Graduate School administers admissions to graduate programs at Cornell. The office of Research and Graduate Studies (RGS) has a comprehensive Web site and a knowledgeable staff to provide guidance and information about graduate degree programs, the fields of study available in each, and the application procedures.
Degrees offered in engineering-related fields include Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), the Master of Science (MS), and the Master of Engineering (MEng).
The Master of Engineering (MEng) program, a professional degree usually completed in one year, offers advanced training in 14 fields. The curriculum is practice-oriented, designed to assist engineers in development of their professional careers and to provide the technical expertise needed in business, government, and industry. The MEng degree typically requires a design project rather than thesis research. At the MS/PhD levels, students shape their course of study by working within an academic framework developed with a special committee of faculty advisors chosen by the student (and including, in some fields, a field-appointed member).
Although graduate students enroll in the Graduate School at Cornell, admission is determined by the faculty members in your chosen field.
We encourage you to browse the RGS site for information on the graduate fields available, the degree programs offered, the application process, dates and deadlines, online forms, financial aid, and fellowships.
