The College of Engineering is committed to engaging college and pre-college students in learning related to science and engineering. Before students officially join the Cornell Engineering and campus communities, they have three opportunities to sample our academic and research environment.

Cornell University Summer College

The Cornell University Summer College is an opportunity for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to take Cornell courses for credit, live on campus, explore academic and career opportunities, and find out what college is all about.

CURIE Academy

The Cornell University Research in Engineering (CURIE) Academy is a one-week residential program for high school girls who excel in math and science. It offers classes, labs, and research experiences designed and taught by Cornell’s world-class faculty and graduate students. Social events, panel discussions, and informal networking allow students to experience life on a university campus and to make new friends from all over the country.

CATALYST

The Cornell Association for the Technological Advancement of Learned Youth in Science and Technology (CATALYST) program is a one-week summer residential program for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors from underrepresented backgrounds.  CATALYST seeks to advance diversity in engineering and especially encourages members of groups underrepresented in the fields of math, science, and engineering (African American, Latino/a, or Native American) to apply.  The program is sponsored in part by a grant form Cornell Alum, Dick Rothkopf, and through the generous support of the Motorola Foundation.

Explorations in Engineering

Explorations in Engineering is a six-week summer program on the Cornell campus for students who are gifted in math and science and would like to use their talents to improve the world. This program gives high school students an introduction to the world of engineering and all the excitement and diversity that engineering really offers.
