International Engineering Internship Programs

The programs listed below are all created with the purpose of helping students find internships abroad. In many cases you will have to apply through the organizations, and not directly to companies.

Institute for International Education An independent nonprofit, IIE is among the world's largest and most experienced international education and training organizations.
International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) Provides a search engine for engineering internships abroad; assists accepted applicants communicate with employers, helps in obtaining work visas, and find housing.
International Cooperative Education Helps place students with engineering internships & Co-ops abroad.
InStep Provides general support, airfare and accommodations for accepted applicants.
DAAD German Academic Exchange Service - Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) Internships & research positions in Germany.

Engineers for a Sustainable World The SEED Program - Summer Engineering Experience in Development Volunteers are placed on teams at project sites in underserved communities, and work directly with local NGOs, small entrepreneurs, or development agencies with a need for people with technical knowledge and skill.
Aqua Clara Engineers Abroad AquaClara is a Cornell team dedicated to improving drinking water around the world. Work abroad with them for two weeks in January, as a summer internship, or potentially for an entire year.
Engineering World Health Gain hands on repair and design experience while helping hospitals and patients in a developing nation.
NSF International Research Opportunities The National Science Foundation provides Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) around the world.
