Peer Advising

As part of their participation in ENGRG 1050, all first-year students are assigned peer advisors—sophomores, juniors, and seniors who volunteer to help new students understand the course selection process, meet other engineering students, and adjust to life at Cornell. Peer Advisors:

  • meet with first-year students during orientation week and during the ENGRG 1050 seminar
  • answer questions about the registration process and student life
  • assist ENGRG 1050 instructors in a variety of ways through out the fall
  • offer useful tips about classes, studying, and other "need to know" facts from a student view

This perspective goes a long way in establishing a strong connection with the first-year students. The role of the peer advisor can have a significant effect on the life of a first-year Engineering student!
