Mu Sigma Tau is a Co-op Society that was reactivated in 1991 by Cornell Engineering Co-op students to promote the program on campus. Its goals are to:
- Assist the Co-op staff in promoting the program to prospective students
- Improve the quality of the Co-op experience for current and future students
- Increase the sharing of experiences between students
- Keep the alumni involved in Co-op activities
- Serve as a social network for participants

Mu Sigma Tau assists future Co-op students by sponsoring and volunteering for activities such as résumé reviews, mock interviews, and networking events with previous Co-op students. They also organize activities including intramural team sports, picnics, and other social activities.
Members of Mu Sigma Tau receive the following benefits:
- Free or discounted admission to all Co-op social activities
- Leadership experience
- Networking opportunities with other Co-op students and employers
