Career Peer Advisor Program

Career Peer Advisors and ECCS student employees serve a critical role in the Engineering Co-op & Career Services Office. Career Peer Advisors and Aides:

  • Are one of the first representatives that our clients across the Cornell community encounter when entering our office.
  • Help maintain the flow of the office and provide effective service by answering questions and directing clients to appropriate resources for their needs.
  • Assist in maintaining current, helpful information on events for clients.
  • Provide an invaluable student perspective that helps us provide effective programming and updates. 
  • Critique resumes and cover letters, conduct mock interviews and provide students with job search advice.

If you are interested in being a part of our team for the 2009-2010 academic year, please review the job descriptions. Leila is a returning Peer Advisor who worked for our office during the 08/09 academic year as the Recruiting Aide and is now a General Office Peer Advisor for the first 8 weeks of Fall 2009. She will then resume being the Recruiting Aide in the Spring semester. Leila interned last summer at HDR in NYC and resided in NJ. Leila is on the Underwater Autonomous Vehicle team and was on the Woburn Robotics team in Ontario.

Dan is a returning Peer Advisor who worked for our office during the 08/09 academic year in charge of Outreach and Events. He has resumed the same position this year and oversees workshops and events for our office this Fall. Dan interned last summer at Goldman Sachs in NYC and is from Philadelphia. The previous summer, he interned at Universuml Dan has also volunteered in South Africa teaching students. He will be studying abroad in Scotland Spring 2010.

Food Science

Solana is concentrating in Food Operations and Business Management and hails from CT. She is in charge of Special Projects in our office for both semesters. She has competed and won in National FFA speaking competitions and has also worked as a Research Assistant at Cornell.

Danielle is a Career Guidance Peer Advisor conducting mock interviews as well as resume and cover letter critiques in our office the first 8 weeks of each semester. She speaks both French and Spanish and hails from MI. She is heavily involved in community service and her art projects have consistently been chosen for display.

Mehran will work in the spring semester as a General Office Peer Advisor conducting mock interviews as well as resume and cover letter critiques. He completed a Co-op at Ernst and Young and hails from CA. He also spent a summer interning as a Strategy Analyst.

Suezette is working on reporting in the fall while she shadows Dan Baicker and will take over workshops and events in the Spring. She studied abroad in Barcelona last year and spent numerous weeks traveling Europe. She has experience interning with Texas Instruments, Deloitte, HR Acuity LLC and the ACLU.

Pritika is the Co-op Aide for both semesters. She plays both the violin and piano and is proficient in MatLab and Java. She hails from MN and also has a lot of volunteer experience.
 Adam Mendrella

Adam, originally from Poland, move to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in high school. Adam, a General Office Peer Advisor, is responsible for maintaining our office operations, hand outs, and assists with MEng specific workshops. Adam also greets our recruiters each morning and assists them each evening when they leave. He is on the CUSat and Solar Decathlon teams, was an Olympiad in 2008 and 2009 and won numerous awards in Engeering and Science.

Rachel, from Brooklyn, NY, is the Recruiting Aide and has experience as and Engineering Extern at Johnson & Johnson and as a Human Resource Extern at Lockheed Martin. Rachel also worked summers at the Podiatric Surgery and Orthopedics Clinic and the Mathematics & Science Partnership in NYC. Rachel's varied and well rounded experience comes from being an engineering student freshman and sophomore years and transitioning to IRL for junior and seniors year after clarifying and narrowing her interests.
