CU Emerge Leadership Institute

The CU Emerge Leadership Institute is a leadership development program for first and second-year engineering students.  The program is designed to provide emerging student leaders with self-information and management tools for leading both student organizations and professional groups later in their careers.

The six-week program meets Mondays from 5:00- 7:30p.m., in addition to a fun and interactive Saturday afternoon with Cornell Outdoor Education facilitators. A light meal is provided at each Monday session.

The multi-faceted program covers topics such as:

  • Team and Leadership Development, February 28
  • Understanding Leadership Styles, March 2
  • Group Dynamics and Communication, March 9
  • Building Inclusive Teams and Organizations, March 23
  • Event Planning and Management, April 6
  • Capstone Presentations, April 20

The final meeting of the Institute includes a capstone small group presentation that pulls together all of the new knowledge and is followed by a closing ceremony that celebrates student success in the program.

Apply by February 6, 2009.
