Joining one of our student project teams can be as easy as signing up and participating or as involved as interviewing and trying-out. While most teams maintain open entry, some teams are highly selective. However, because of the large number of teams available, and because of the wide range of interests our teams represent, it is likely that you’ll find a team that matches your specific interests.
We recommend planning your participation carefully and adhering to the following steps:
Step 1 - Most teams recruit new members at the beginning of the fall semester. Be on the look-out for team information session fliers in August, September, and October.
Step 2 - Identify two to three teams that are of interest to you and read their web sites in detail. Pay attention to meeting times, time requirements, and competition schedules. Also note specific skills that participation requires or that the team is seeking.
Step 3 - Contact student team leaders and request information regarding:
a. The process for joining their team (selective versus open participation)
b. Specific skills that the team is seeking
c. Time requirements for participation
d. The dates and times of upcoming team information sessions
Step 4 –Apply for membership to the team that interests you the most and that fits your schedule!
