The AS-EAS Spring Undergraduate Research Forum will be held during the last three Fridays of the semester. Oral presentations of Senior Honors Theses will take place on Friday, April 25, and on Friday, May 2, in 2146 Snee (2:40 p.m. to 3:20 p.m.). The research forum concludes with a poster session on Friday, May 9, in the Snee Hall Atrium (3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.). Food and drinks will be provided at the poster session. All members of the EAS community are strongly encouraged to attend all three events.
This will be a great opportunity for members of the EAS-AS community to come together and celebrate the exciting research being conducted by undergraduates in our two majors.
We anticipate that five or six AS and EAS majors will give oral presentations of their senior honors thesis. To accommodate the large number of presentations, the Atmospheric Science Seminar series will host these talks on Friday, April 25, and Friday, May 2 (2:40 p.m. to 3:20 p.m.). Everyone is encouraged to attend the presentations both weeks.
Poster presentations on Friday, May 9, can be for results of completed research or a sketch of initial work being planned. Those students in the early stages of research who present an early sketch will benefit by getting feedback from others on their initial work. And if you are an AS or EAS major who is not currently involved with independent research, the symposium is a terrific way to see what might be possible for you!
If you are defending your Senior Honors Thesis:
Work out the date of your defense (April 25 versus May 2) with Annmarie Card (ac2666@cornell.edu). After you have confirmed your date with Annmarie, then send Prof. Bruce Monger (bcm3@cornell.edu) the following: 1) title of your talk, 2) abstract, and 3) your defense date. Send this information to me by 9:00 a.m. on April 18.
If you intend to present your research as a poster:
please send Prof. Bruce Monger (bcm3@cornell.edu) a 1) title and 2) short abstract by 9:00 a.m. on April 18.
Getting this information in a Word or Google Doc format is best.
We will then publish a booklet of all the abstracts.
