Powering a Step-function Change in Information Work

Industries around the world are undergoing rapid digital transformation fueled by remote and hybrid work. As a result, work-related data are generated in an unprecedented pace and volume---from interaction logs, communication networks to workplace content and meeting transcripts. These large-scale datasets present tremendous challenges and opportunities for extracting actionable insights and building productivity tools for organizations. In this talk, I will discuss the work trends that we have seen in the past few years and a few research efforts that try to make sense of large-scale telemetry, infer causal relationships, and build AI models for work.

Bio:
Dr. Longqi Yang is a strategic applied research manager at Microsoft’s Office of Applied Research, where he leads AI research for organizations’ digital transformation. His research spans across recommender systems, organizational networks and computational social science, particularly their applications to enterprise and future of work. His work received paper awards from top CS conferences (e.g., CHI, KDD) and was covered by major news outlets (e.g., The Washington Post, BBC, CNBC, Forbes, The Atlantic, Bloomberg, Business Insider, Inc., etc.). Dr. Yang received his Ph.D. in computer science from Cornell University.
