Cornell seismologist helps solve Oklahoma's earthquake mystery

What EAS professor Katie Keranen and some colleagues have learned from data they collected in Oklahoma is that injecting large amounts of fluids into areas with faults can cause earthquakes.

Cornell University has created a video highlighting the work of Katie Keranen, assistant professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Keranen discusses how a Minnesota girl came to be fascinated by mountains and the bending and folding of rocks. She also talks about the how her research into the connection between fluids, faults, and earthquakes could one day save lives.
