Akane Wakai, Sibley Ph.D. Student, wins NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Grant

Akane Wakai, a Ph.D. student working in Assistant Professor Atieh Moridi’s group, recently won a NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Grant. She will be working on 3D printing of high entropy alloys. Her research project seeks to combine the advantages of the unique characteristics of high entropy alloys and the additive manufacturing process to push the limits of materials. Carolyn Barrera CEE ‘20 is one of eight people selected to join Siemens Gamesa as an engineer specializing in wind engineering after graduation. Siemens Gamesa is a leader in the renewable energy industry, working to provide the world's best offshore and onshore wind turbines and services. Carolyn has been a member of Professor Barthelmie’s Wind Energy Lab for over 2 years, working on wind turbine blade leading edge erosion.
