Professor Edward Suh Named IEEE Fellow

We are excited to announce that the IEEE Board of Directors named Professor Edward Suh an IEEE Fellow, recognized for contributions to the development of secure hardware circuits and processors. Ed Suh joined the faculty of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2007. His research is focused on computer architecture, including parallel and reconfigurable computer architecture for security and reliability, embedded cyber-physical systems, and on-chip network design and management. Cornell research drives NYSEG electric car charging pilot

NYSEG, in collaboration with Eilyan Bitar, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, is piloting a new approach to coordinate electric vehicle power use by encouraging owners to delay charging times in exchange for lower prices. The project, OptimizEV, will engage 35 participants in Tompkins County for a year to better understand consumer charging preferences, and how these might align with the overall power grid. Read more

ECE Professors Alyssa Apsel and Aaron Wagner Named IEEE Fellows

We learned today that the IEEE Board of Directors elevated Professors Alyssa Apsel and Aaron Wagner to IEEE Fellows. Alyssa Apsel was recognized for her contributions to radio frequency and optical communications circuits and systems, while Aaron Wagner was recognized for contributions to distributed data compression.
