Where can I find grant funding opportunities?

Please send us a note or visit our Funding Opportunities page for some potential resources.
We publish a list of new opportunities every two weeks in the Cornell Engineering Information Update.
In addition, Grants.gov has a mailing list that produces a digest of federal funding opportunities that you can sign up for.

When should I contact RASC if I'm thinking of submitting a proposal?

Please let RASC know as soon as you identify a funding opportunity and/or a potential sponsor requests a budget.  If the proposal is unsolicited, please let us know what kind of submission you are considering and we will be able to take it from there.

If you have a research project in mind, but are having trouble finding an appropriate grant opportunity, please let us know so that we can assist you in this area.

How long will it take to process my proposal?

This depends on the type and complexity of the proposal you are submitting.  A single-institution, single-PI proposal with no cost-sharing will generally take less time than a proposal with multiple senior personnel, subcontracts, or cost-sharing.  Please let RASC know as soon as you know that you will be submitting a proposal, and we will be able to give you a better idea at that time.

If I want to apply to an OVPR or internal call, will I still need to submit the proposal through RASC?

Yes.  Submissions to the OVPR and other internal entities (e.g. the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future) will also be processed by RASC.

When should I contact the OSP vs. RASC?

For all pre-award related queries, please contact RASC.  We are happy to assess the implications of your question and direct you to the appropriate place. RASC will also act as a liaison with the Office of Sponsored Programs.

Do white papers and pre-proposals have to go through the OSP?

This depends on the sponsor's guidelines on what should be included in the white paper.  If the sponsor requires a budget and/or a signature from an institutional authority, the white paper will have to be submitted through the OSP.  If the white paper is purely technical in nature, OSP involvement is not required.

What can PIs expect of RASC?

RASC will be responsible for all the administrative aspects of proposal preparation. This includes, but is not limited to, compilation of proposal documents, acting as a liaison between Engineering departments/PIs and the Office of Sponsored Programs for pre-award related activities, checking proposals for compliance with sponsor guidelines, proofreading, and routing internal documents related to proposal submission (e.g. Form 10 and applicable addenda, Form 5). Please see the RASC Proposal Development Support page.
