The objective of this panel was to connect GE technical women leaders, managers, and strong individual contributors with current students as well as Cornell faculty and administrators. The discussion focused on the unique challenges women may face in the workplace and successful strategies to navigate them.

The event  kicked-off with a networking reception, followed by a moderated Q&A session, and concluded with questions from the audience.

The panelists included:

  • Beth LaRose, managing director of GE Energy Consulting Power Economics
  • Meng-Ling Hsiao, executive chief consulting engineer, Reliability GE Infrastructure, Energy Engineering Division
  • Erin Finehout Ph.D. '05 ChemE, lead engineer, GE Global Research Center 
  • Bouchra Bouqata lead computer scientist, GE Global Research Center  
  • Jean Martin '97 EE, GE Aviation Engineering Black Belt 

The panel was moderated by Hilary Lashley-Renison '05 ME, M.Eng. '07, MBA '09, wind turbine controls engineer and REDP associate, GE Energy.

Diversity Programs in Engineering, Johnson at Cornell -- Office of Diversity & Inclusion, Cornell Graduate SWE, Cornell Diversity Alumni Programs, and the GE Women’s network co-hosted the event.
