Become a CARES Ally

Are you interested in becoming an Engineering Community Allies and Resource (CARES) program ally? Please read the following information and consider completing the application form at the bottom of this page:

Eligibility

Cornell Engineering graduate students, postdoctoral research associates, and faculty members are all eligible to become Engineering CARES allies. The ideal candidates are those highly interested in supporting graduate students and postdoctoral research associates, are willing and able to help individuals as empathetic listeners, and can (with training and guidance) serve as effective resource connectors.

Please note that Engineering CARES allies are unpaid volunteers.

Responsibilities

All applicants invited to become an Engineering CARES ally will be expected to complete multiple training sessions, follow all Engineering CARES program guidelines, actively participate in our Ally Support Group (one meeting per month), and establish specific days and times to meet with Engineering CARES participants. 

Training and Support

You do not need to be an expert in these areas or have full knowledge of existing resources before applying. Engineering CARES allies will be provided with the training and tools necessary to be successful. They will also be supported throughout their entire journey. This support will consist of:

  • Specific training sessions
  • Participation in the Engineering CARES Ally Support Group
  • Detailed training materials, resources, and tools
  • Scheduling tool for potential contacts
  • Mentorship

Application Process

Apply to be an ally using the form below. After you apply, a selection committee will assess all applications and choose our first cohort of allies. Completing the form does not guarantee that you will be selected as an Engineering CARES ally.
