Linds Mulholland joined Cornell in January 2025, bringing a background that blends global experience and a deep commitment to student support to the new staff role of program coordinator for the master of engineering in biomedical engineering.

“I started my career as a translator,” she said, “but ended up pursuing an opportunity to work in international emergency/crisis management for a global organization. It was a uniquely stressful position due to the nature of the work, but I’m grateful for the experience because so much of what I learned—methodically working towards greater efficiency of critical processes, being able to communicate quickly and effectively while still maintaining warmth and sincerity—were all skills that were directly transferable once I made the move to higher education.”

In her current role, Linds supports a wide range of administrative functions for the master of engineering program. “Ultimately, my goal is to facilitate seamless, high-quality, and resonant experiences for both students and faculty by acting as a source of support and structure for the program,” they said.

One of the highlights of the job has been watching students grow through their project work. “It has been very exciting to see how the diverse academic backgrounds, interests, and hard and soft skillsets that our students bring with them to the program has a very tangible impact on the integrity and uniqueness of their core projects,” she said. “Getting to witness their pride at the culmination of a year’s work has been a genuine pleasure.”

Outside of work, Linds enjoys studying languages, cooking, and reading about food history. She dreams of one day leading local tours in beloved places like the Finger Lakes or New Orleans.
