DPE Awards banquet reception

Annual Awards Banquet

Diversity Programs in Engineering's (DPE) Annual Awards Banquet brings over 150 engineering community members together to honor the achievements and impressive contributions made throughout the year by students, staff and faculty.

At the Annual Awards Banquet, attendees engage in the networking reception, celebrate award recipients and graduating students during dinner, participate in a raffle, and have the opportunity to visit with company representatives at the conclusion of the program. The recognition of a faculty and staff member as champions of diversity and inclusion is another highlight of the evening.

Corporate Awards & Scholarships

With support from our industry partners, students are presented with corporate awards and scholarships. The Annual Awards Banquet also connects students with industry representatives to learn about internships as well as co-op and full-time career opportunities.

Ephrahim was a mentor and advisor to a great many students who often lined the hallway to meet with him for career advice, for navigating Cornell, or to discuss individual and group projects. Prof. Garcia joined the Cornell Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering faculty in 2003 following stints as a professor at Vanderbilt University and as a Program Manager at DARPA. He was an extremely creative and bold thinker whose research and teaching touched topics as diverse as energy, aerodynamics, smart materials, and autonomous robots.

The Ephrahim Garcia Graduate Student Excellence in Mentoring Award recognizes a graduate student(s) who has exhibited exceptional mentorship of undergraduates and/or new graduate students in their assistantships, fosters greater inclusion through mentoring, and works closely with others in research and/or other settings across the college.
