Biography
Tarun Gupta is Managing Director at Invesco, where he serves as Head of Custom Equity and Co-Head of Invesco Quantitative Strategies (IQS). In this role, he leads innovative research and oversees the development of investment technology focused on quantitative investment strategies. Mr. Gupta joined Invesco in 2019. Prior to joining Invesco, Mr. Gupta was Managing Director at AQR Capital Management, where he led a global research team focused on alpha research and the development and management of global quantitative strategies. Earlier in his career, he was Vice President and Lead Portfolio Manager for global equity portfolios at Goldman Sachs, and began his investment career at Credit Suisse in New York in 2009. An active contributor to the academic community, Mr. Gupta has published and reviewed articles for leading finance journals, including the Journal of Portfolio Management, where he received the Best Article Award in 2019. He has also taught a graduate course on quantitative investment strategy at Cornell University. Mr. Gupta holds a B.S. with honors in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities; a B.A. with honors in Mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University; and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics, specializing in asset pricing and macroeconomics, from the University of Chicago.
