Biography
Yasas Vithanage (pronounced) is passionate about bringing the Engineering design process to Higher Education. He was born in Sri Lanka and came to the United States to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. As a highly involved student and the Resident Assistant for the Engineering Community, Yasas discovered his real passion was to help engineering students learn who they are so that they can be better Engineers and Scientists for all people. So, after he received his bachelor’s degree, he completed his master’s degree in Counseling for Higher Education and Leadership.
With a career spanning from developing policies and practices for anti-hate, anti-discrimination, gender-inclusive practices, peer accountability, support groups, technology, and automation, Yasas uses curiosity to help solve problems. His love for engineering and student development has brought a career of fulfillment. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his partner, daughter, two dogs, and two cats. His hobbies include powerlifting, F1, DND, crafting, and anime.
