  • Geoff Abers

    Abers, the William and Katherine Snee Professor in Geological Sciences, has been chosen as Chair-elect for Earthscope’s Board of Directors.

  • Chloé Arson

    Arson, professor and M.Eng. director, has been elected a member of the Board of Directors of the American Rock Mechanics Association.

  • Pascal D. Caraccioli

    Caraccioli, doctoral student, was chosen for the U.S. Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship program.

  • Riley Culberg

    Culberg, an assistant professor, won the 2025 Daniel M. Lazar ’29 Teaching Award from Cornell Engineering.

  • Gretchen Goldman ’06

    Goldman took office as president of the Union of Concerned Scientists in February, 2025.

  • Peter Hitchcock

    Hitchcock has received tenure and is now an associate professor.

  • David Lee Hysell ’92

    Hysell ’92, the Thomas R. Briggs Professor in Engineering, won the 2025 Fiona Ip Li ’78 and Donald Li ’78 Teaching Award from Cornell Engineering.

  • Natalie Mahowald

    Mahowald, chair of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and the Irving Porter Church Professor in Engineering, was awarded the Syukuro Manabe Climate Research Award by the American Meteorological Society.

  • Sara Miller

    Miller, doctoral student in geological sciences, won the People’s Choice Award at Cornell Graduate School’s 2025 Three-Minute Thesis Competition.

  • Carolina Muñoz-Saez

    Muñoz-Saez, assistant professor, received the Faculty Champion Award for Early Career Faculty from the Graduate School Office of Inclusion and Student Engagement.

  • Angeline Pendergrass

    Pendergrass, an assistant professor, has received a CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation for her project “Contextualizing changes in extreme precipitation.”

  • Elisa Raffa ’15

    Raffa, member of the department’s Advisory Council, received the Award for Excellence in Science Reporting by a Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society.

  • Daniel Rothenberg ’10

    Rothenberg, was recognized by the American Meteorological Society for “insightful and timely reviews, often for manuscripts that needed emergency reviews.”

  • Matthew Pritchard

    Pritchard was appointed the Sydney Kaufman Professor of Geophysics.

  • Britney Schmidt

    Schmidt was promoted to full professor.

    Sealls was elected American Meteorological Society president-elect for 2025.
