Speak Out Against Bias and Report It

Alan Zehnder, associate dean for diversity and faculty development and professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and Sara Xayarath Hernández, director of Diversity Programs in Engineering have been named the bias reporting liaisons for the College of Engineering. The primary goal of Cornell's Bias Reporting Program is to respond to bias activity by advising the university community of the occurrence of bias incidents and crimes, providing support-related resources to individuals who have experienced bias activity, and developing programs that will help to prevent or eliminate bias activity.

Each college and major employment unit at Cornell will receive reports of bias activity through the Department of Inclusion and Workplace Diversity (DIWD). The bias liaison will report the bias incident and/or act as a case liaison for bias incidents reported through the case management system (Maxient).

Please contact Alan Zehnder or Sara Xayarath Hernández regarding any bias incident in which you are the target or you are a witness. Please note the existing channels of supervisors and human resources are still available. If there is an immediate risk to life or property call C.U.P.D. at 911, 607-255-111 and Gannett Health Services at 607-255-5155.
