As a rising second-year student in the Material Science and Engineering (MSE) Ph. D. program at Cornell, Kenneth Lyons Jr. is researching the self-assembly of photonic structures from colloidal, polymer particles. A chemist by training, he works in the lab of Dr. Chekesha Liddell-Watson and enjoys, among the program’s other perks, unlimited access to a scanning electron microscope.

Erica Pratt's doctoral work in Dr. Brian Kirby's lab focused on investigating circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in the peripheral blood system of patients with solid tumors and how these cells can be used as a noninvasive tumor surrogate, and as prognostic biomarkers for survival in advanced disease.
