Paxton Thedford grew up in Kerrville, Texas and earned his B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. When it was time to decide on a graduate program, Cornell was his clear first choice. “When I came to Ithaca for the admitted students events, Professor Susan Daniel and everyone else in CBE did a great job,” says Thedford. “I got a good feeling right away from all the people I met—it felt like a place I could succeed.”

Erica Pratt's doctoral work in Dr. Brian Kirby's lab focused on investigating circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in the peripheral blood system of patients with solid tumors and how these cells can be used as a noninvasive tumor surrogate, and as prognostic biomarkers for survival in advanced disease.
